Harappa: Mound AB Photos

Tomb of Naugaza, a `Nine Meter' man on Mound AB. Harappa town is in the distance.

This tomb is visited everyday by many of the local people, an interesting continued use of the ancient mound. Just east of this was a partially ruined mosque, a favorite place of mine to find shade and a breeze. I would often sit where this photo was taken or near the old mosque and write my letters and postcards to friends and family.

This area of the mound has been the focus of much work since the 1996 season, when evidence of the pre-urban village of Harappa was found. This part of the mound has 17 meters of vertical deposits, a long sequence from first settlement to the post-Harappan abandonment.
