The `Lower' mound was incredible, full of high walls and neighborhoods. The layout of streets, lanes, and houses emphasize the public/private separation that this society exhibited. The large houses could have easily housed a large extensive family provided a second story of wood above the existing brick walls. These houses were off alleys like the one to the left, separating their entrance from the streets.

The plan of the city has large streets running across the site, some extending perfectly straight across the whole mound. The large streets span 10 meters, and could have fronted stalls or vendors and functioned as a bazaar. The street plan is striking when you walk the city, strolling past unexcavated areas to the neighborhoods which have been uncovered.
