It's a nice Pathan city, with Buddhist ruins located a few places in town. I found the people around here to be quite friendly and warm.

View from my hotel room to Mingora's central bridge. While located near the noisy street and bazaar, I liked staying in town where I could see the early morning and late evening life easily.

It also makes self-catering much easier, an essential skill for living on the cheap.

It often would rain a little in the mornings when I was in Swat. It is a lush valley, catching the rain leftover from the monsoon as it passes over the the high hills to the north. This made everything almost fluorescent green and lush, but made my pictures less than perfectly clear.
